Who doesn’t love beautiful hair? But, with lots of environmental pollution and the amount of stress you give to your hair by using lots of chemicals, you end up having totally damaged hair. Here is how you give a break and get back your healthy hair.
Here are 10 tips to make your dull, damaged hair look radiant in a blink of the eye.
- Massage
Massage your scalp daily. It promotes good circulation around your hair follicles. Massage your scalp in circular motion so it stimulates blood flow in areas where you want to grow your hair.
- Meditate
Keep your mind stress free. Stress can also be the reason for your hair loss. Meditation can help reduce your stress levels and increase your hair growth rate.
- Change your diet
Eat protein rich food. Protein is the building block for healthy hair. Add omega3 fatty acids to your diet like avocados, nuts, fatty fish. Deficiency in omega3 fatty acids will make your hair brittle and dull.
Eat food rich in iron. If your body does not get enough iron, it will produce very less red blood cells which will lead to hair loss.
- A Big ‘no-no’ to Heat
Do not expose your damaged hair to heat. Use cold water/lukewarm water to wash your hair.
- Blotting is better than rubbing
Use the towel to blot excess water. Do not rub your hair with towel. It causes further damage.
- Wash your Hair Smartly
When you are using a shampoo, use it smartly. Do not wash your hair every day. Washing the hair more frequently makes it dry by stripping off all the essential oils and hair breaks so easily. Wash it twice or thrice in a week.
- Minimize using Hair Colors
Whether it is a permanent or semi-permanent coloring, there is always some amount of peroxide in it. Peroxide tends to break the protective layer of the hair. So use hair colors sparingly.
- ‘No-No’ to blow-dry heat
When you blow dry your hair, do so gently. Always use the cool air setting. Even though it takes more time to dry, it locks the moisture in your hair whereas hot air makes your hair dry and causes breakage.
- Deep Conditioning
For your damaged hair, use a deep conditioner instead of a normal conditioner. Deep conditioning is more effective in reducing protein loss thus adding shine to your hair. Use a deep conditioner to especially mend the split ends. If you can’t afford a deep conditioner, then add some virgin olive oil to the usual moisturizer and apply it on the hair after shampooing.
- Hair Serum
Use a hair serum when the hair is wet. It gives more strength to the hair when you blow dry it.
- Selection of good comb
Believe it or not, a good comb does a lot more benefit than other products. Use combs that are gentle on your hair. Do not comb your hair when it is wet. If you want to, then be sure to use a wide toothed comb on wet hair.
- Use Heat protecting products
Styling the hair (Curling, perming, straightening, crimping, etc.,) requires high temperatures. This in turn, damages the hair. Heat protection products protect hair from heat damage by forming a layer on the hair strands. Heat protection products are available in the form of Gel, sprays, mousse, serum, etc.
